This is an intimate traditional seasonal safari style tented camp just outside Amboseli National Park. It is situated in the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro (30km south in Tanzania) midway between the forests of Mt Kilimanjaro and the permanent swamps of Amboseli NP.

In the Maasai language 'Ol Kanjau' means ‘elephants’ and this area is indeed devoted to elephant preservation, and local conservationists and ecologists specialising in elephants work here. The camp is on community land and leased from the Maasai people who are the principal landowners in Amboseli.

There are 6 spacious safari style tents which blend in with their surroundings. All have comfortable beds and en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilet, running hot water and bucket showers.

The dining tent is in the middle of camp and here you can enjoy delicious meals. There is also a library tent. Gas lanterns provide light at night and a romantic atmosphere. Local Maasai people make up most of the staff at the camp.
